Rocking tees for a good cause.

It’s no surprise that Crowley Webb’s fundraisers resonate so well with our employees, but this summer was an exceptional success! In addition to the monthly opportunities to give back through collections, donations, and volunteer opportunities, Crowley Webb Gives Back – CW’s employee-run philanthropic initiative – instituted “T-shirt Tuesday” for the summer. We put our spin on the traditional “casual-for-a-cause” office fundraiser, and, every Tuesday, encouraged employees to make a small monetary donation which would allow them the option to wear a t-shirt. The fundraiser’s organizer, Andalyn, describes the how and the why behind our summer-long support of a pretty amazing organization.

Why did you decide to do T-shirt Tuesday at an already-casual workplace?

At my previous job, my team participated in T-shirt Tuesday as a way to promote more individual expression in the workplace and foster conversations among colleagues. At Crowley Webb, we already have a pretty casual dress code, so adding the option to wear a t-shirt fit our culture and was an easy and fun tie-in to Crowley Webb Gives Back.

How did you hear about Senior Wishes?

We ask our employees to share organizations that the CW Gives Back committee should have on our radar. More than one of our colleagues suggested Senior Wishes, a life-enriching nonprofit that grants seniors’ wishes to fulfill lifelong dreams. The wishes they have supported include reconnecting a senior with a loved one, helping a senior to engage in a passion, or just providing a senior with something they need. They support seniors in Erie, Niagara, Genesee, Wyoming, and Orleans counties.

What inspired you to support Senior Wishes through CW Gives Back?

When the committee went through our list of suggestions, we looked for an organization that could benefit from a monetary donation, as opposed to a collection of items or volunteer hours. We also try to support a wide range of missions throughout the year. But what really sealed the deal was the Senior Wishes’ Facebook page – and the tug on our heartstrings that came from seeing the faces of the wish recipients.

So, how did it go?

Our Crowley Webb fundraiser collected more than $750 by the end of summer! We can’t wait to see what wishes are granted.
