Employee spotlight: Andalyn Courtney.

Each month, we turn the spotlight onto those responsible for bringing our work to life. Today we showcase Andalyn Courtney, the newest member of our creative leadership team. Previously the creative director at the University of Virginia, Andalyn joined us in October as group creative director and has already made a strong impact on the agency. She has helped create amazing work for our clients, including Wilmington Trust, the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, and ObjectiveGI. All while being crowned the most fashionable in the office. Read on to learn more about Andalyn!

What has been your coolest work experience? Ask me again in a year. I have a feeling the best is yet to come! 😊

What do you like best about what you do? I like that what I do forces me to be current (so says the lady without a Facebook account). In all seriousness, I do believe that being good in this business requires an eye on what is going on in the world, and where it’s going. I hope that helps me stay relevant as I get old.

What advice do you have for emerging talent in the field? Always follow your gut. That’s what good designers do. This was the advice given to me out of the gate. I find it to be incredibly accurate in all aspects of life, not just particular to design. But it works well there too.

What would the title of your autobiography be? The Creative Adventures of Amaze-alyn: The Wondrous Design Giant. (I can’t take credit for that – thanks, Matt Low!)

What’s the first thing you would do with $1 million? After making sure family was taken care of and (finally) paying off my student loans, I would try to see and experience as much of the world as possible. I would likely also splurge on something Chanel – just to see what it was like to be able to.

What’s the last book you read? I think The Pout Pout Fish, actually. I have a toddler who tends to dictate my reading list. “Blub. Blub. Blub.” However, I did pick up the Beastie Boys Book in the fall and I’m hoping to read it this summer.

What makes you a great guest at a cocktail party? I think I can be pretty entertaining – or at least can tell a good story or two.

What do you bring to the Crowley Webb creative team? I’ve had the opportunity to work on both sides of our business – in agencies and in-house. I hope these diverse experiences will allow me to bring a unique perspective to the mix.
